Mark MacCarley, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command deputy chief of staff, welcomes veterans and family members of the 7th Infantry Regiment the morning of Sept. 21 to Fort Eustis thanking them for their service to the nation during the time of the Cold War. The group was visiting the local area as part of their annual reunion, and following MacCarley's address, toured the U.S. Army Transportation Museum here at Fort Eustis.

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- Maj. Gen. Mark MacCarley, deputy chief of staff, U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command, administers the oath of enlistment to a group for future Soldiers during a Sept. 22, 2012, football game at the College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, Va. Dating back to the Revolutionary War, anyone who joins the U.S. armed forces is required to take an enlistment oath administered by a commissioned officer. The oath requires an enlisted Soldier to obey the orders of the President and the officers appointed over them according to the Uniform Code of Military Justice. (U.S. Army photo)
