Art Bartell (right), deputy director of U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command’s Army Capabilities Integration Center, and his wife, Karen (left), visit with a patient at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Hampton, Va., Aug. 10 during a ribbon cutting ceremony marking the opening of the facility’s newly expanded spinal cord injury wing. The renovated wing is home to nearly 50 veterans whose medical needs require them to live full time at the center.
